Spring is in full swing, so we’ve put together some stimulating reads to help your child enjoy the verdant season! We also have a list of Education.com’s tools and worksheets that help growing readers develop their skills.

Books for young readers

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame: A classic of children’s literature in which four animal friends — Mole, Rat, Toad, and Badger — go on adventures together in the pastoral countryside.

The Wild Robot by Peter Brown: When a robot named Roz wakes up alone on a remote island with no memory of her past, she has to learn to survive from the island’s animal inhabitants and make a new home in the wild.

Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin: Inspired by Chinese folklore, this story follows a young girl named Minli as she sets out on an extraordinary journey to find the mythical Old Man in the Moon and change her family’s fortune.

Books for advanced readers

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett: An orphan goes to live in a gloomy manor with her miserable uncle, and discovers a mysterious garden that helps her and the entire household heal.

Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt: A thought-provoking book about a girl who meets a family that is able to live forever after drinking from an enchanted spring, and grapples with whether she’d like to be immortal too.

Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech: A pair of troublemaking twins discover the beauty of the outdoors when they’re taken in by an old couple living in the lush, magical valley of Ruby Holler.
