WHAT YOU’LL NEED
With just a few ingredients, you can make the simple layers for this chocolate parfait recipe in minutes.
KITCHEN TOOLS
- Food Processor – (affiliate links) The best way to crush cookies into crumbs.
- Clear Parfait Cups – These little 5-ounce cups come with a lid for travel or storage.
- Hand Mixer – I love using this mixer for smaller desserts.
- Disposable Decorating Bags – Can be used for frosting, fillings, and whipped cream.
- Icing Tip 1M – Used to create a pretty swirl on each cup.
MAIN INGREDIENTS
- Oreo Cookies – Crush 1 cookie (with the cream filling) per cup.
- Cream Cheese – One block of full-fat cream cheese is enough to make six parfaits.
- Sour Cream – Adds a little tang to the mixture. Nonfat Greek yogurt can also be used.
- Marshmallow Fluff – Also known as marshmallow creme, this sweetens the filling without using powdered sugar.
- Hot Chocolate Mix – The dry powder sweetens it even further and adds a sweet flavor. You can use milk chocolate or a dark chocolate mix.
- Cool Whip – The whipped topping adds a fluffy texture to the mousse. Feel free to use cold heavy cream to make this 3 ingredient whipped cream instead.
- Toppings – Hot fudge, sprinkles, marshmallow bits, and cherries with stems add some fun to the top of the glass. Mini chocolate chips would also be a good idea.
HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE PARFAITS
These chocolate parfaits are an easy dessert to make. Layer crushed cookies, no-bake cheesecake, and hot fudge in clear plastic cups or mini Mason jars.
- Crush the Oreo cookies. Place 6 cream-filled sandwich cookies in a food processor and pulse. Divide the crumbs evenly into the bottom of 6 small cups.
- Make the filling. Beat the cream cheese in a large mixing bowl for a couple of minutes or until creamy. Add the sour cream, marshmallow fluff, and hot chocolate mix, then beat again. Fold in a little bit of Cool Whip.
- Assemble the parfaits. Spoon the chocolate mixture evenly into small glasses or cups, then top with hot fudge. Chill in the fridge.
- Add fun toppings. Use a piping bag and icing tip 1M to add swirls of whipped cream to the top of each one. Garnish with sprinkles, marshmallow bits, and a cherry.
STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
Place the un-decorated cheesecake cups in a container with a lid or cover each one tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate 1-2 days. Add the toppings right before serving.
TIPS AND TRICKS
- Set the cream cheese out ahead of time so it is easier to beat into a creamy filling.
- Assemble the layers in mini Mason jars if you do not want to buy plastic parfait cups.
- Use a piping bag to add the filling to the cups cleanly. A ziplock baggie works, too. Spoon the filling into a large bag and cut one corner off so you can squeeze it in easily.
- Add a swirl of peppermint whipped cream for the holidays.
- Wait to add toppings if you are taking them on the go. Cover them with a lid or plastic wrap, and then add the toppings once you’ve arrived.
